November 14, 2019 – (ST. LOUIS, MO) – In September 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released a finalized rule to make 1.3 million American workers newly eligible for overtime pay. The rule updates earnings thresholds necessary to except executive, administrative and professional employees from the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) minimum wage and overtime pay requirements, and allows employers to count a portion of certain bonuses/commissions towards meeting the salary level. These new changes go into effect January 1, 2020.
The Equipment Dealers Association (EDA) has scheduled a
free webinar to cover the implications of the new rule and how it will effect equipment dealers in the United States. The webinar will be led by Natalie Higgins, EDA’s VP of Government Relations and General Counsel.
Natalie’s webinar will:
- Explain the changes made by the Department of Labor
- Review several FLSA exemptions commonly used in the equipment dealership and whether or not they will be impacted by this new rule
- Provide dealers with the information they need to begin an internal audit to ensure FLSA compliance.
