This week the EDA Board of Directors held its summer meeting at EDA headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Accompanying them was EDA’s Outdoor Power Equipment Council. The two groups held individual meetings followed by a joint session Wednesday afternoon.
The Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) Council arrived Tuesday afternoon and visited Bertels Sales & Service, an OPE dealership in Dorsey, IL. Vance Miller, OPE council member and owner of Bertels was thrilled to host the group to kick off the meeting. Tuesday evening the OPE Council joined EDA’s Board of Directors and EDA staff at a welcome dinner.
Wednesday morning the two groups got started early with individual meetings. The OPE Council reviewed recent EDA activities such as the expansion of our workforce development initiatives, distribution of the 2017 OPE Cost of Doing Business Survey and promotion of OPE Flat Rate Guide. The Council also discussed plans for 2018 GIE+Expo and current issues impacting OPE dealers and their industry, such as trade and workforce development.
The EDA Board of Directors meeting focused on the 2018/19 membership marketing plan and budget. After a joint lunch the OPE Council and Board of Directors held a joint session where they discussed key issues impacting OPE dealers. The groups also discussed similarities and differences between the outdoor power and agriculture industries.
EDA would like to thank all of the Board and Council members who traveled to St. Louis to make this meeting possible and we look forward to the next time the two groups can collaborate.
